Newfoundlander and Labradorean Elected as National President of the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS)

St. John’s, June 13, 2014 – The Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS) Newfoundland and Labrador Chapter is pleased to announce that Sean Kelly APR, FCPRS, Manager of Public Relations, Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (St. John’s) became the 58th national president of CPRS during the Society’s 2014 Annual General Meeting in Banff, Alberta on May 25, the first day of the three-day CPRS National Summit where more than 300 delegates attended.

Sean has over 25 years experience in public relations. He graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a B.A. (’85), B.Ed. (’86) and M.A (’10) in Political Science. He received his accreditation in public relations from CPRS in 2002 and was inducted into the CPRS College of Fellows in 2009. Prior to joining the CPRS Board of Directors, where he served as Vice-President Treasurer and Vice-president Corporate Secretary, he served as President of CPRS-Newfoundland and Labrador from 2003-2009.

Sean has several CPRS awards including the prestigious Award of Attainment, the Don Rennie Memorial Award for Excellence in Strategic Government Communications, the Lamp of Service and a Silver Award of Excellence for Issues Management/Crisis Communications.

Sean is originally from Corner Brook but now lives in St. John’s with his wife, Kathleen, and children, Jennifer and Liam.
